FONGTIL JUNTAMENTE COM OS SEUS MEMBROS ONG, REALIZOU UMA REUNIÃO COM DELEGAÇÕES IMPORTANTES DE CANSEA E FFTI PARA DISCUTIR SOBRE O TRATADO DE COMBUSTÍVEIS FÓSSEIS E A TRANSIÇÃO ENERGÉTICA JUSTA

Hoje, quarta-feira, 21 de janeiro de 2026, o Secretariado do Fórum das ONG de Timor-Leste (FONGTIL), juntamente com os seus membros ONG, realizou uma reunião com delegações importantes de Rede de Ação Climática do Sudeste Asiático (CANSEA) e com a Iniciativa do Tratado de Combustíveis Fósseis (FFTI) para discutir sobre o Tratado de Combustíveis Fósseis e a Transição Energética Justa na sala de reuniões do FONGTIL em Caicoli, Díli.

O objetivo desta visita ao país é conhecer o contexto da transição energética nacional de Timor-Leste, os percursos de transição justa e as oportunidades de transformação económica, reunindo-se com organizações da sociedade civil locais que atuam nesta área; E eles Gostariam de discutir a relevância do Tratado para as estratégias climáticas e energéticas de Timor-Leste, e destacar a sua ligação ao Parecer Consultivo da Corte Internacional de Justiça sobre as Alterações Climáticas, bem como à primeira Conferência Internacional sobre a Descontinuação dos Combustíveis Fósseis na Colômbia, em abril de 2026.

Na reunião O presidente  Conselho Fiscal do FONGTIL Sr. Armando da Silva Disse: “A reunião de hoje tem como princípio que eles venham partilhar os seus programas, que estão relacionados com as alterações climáticas e os combustíveis fósseis connosco, e também nos pedem a nossa opinião sobre como olhar para a forma como a nossa defesa pode abordar o governo de Timor-Leste e como a nossa defesa se pode posicionar a nível regional e internacional. E é isso que estamos a fazer juntos hoje, partilhando programas, experiências e conhecimentos uns com os outros, acreditando que no futuro construiremos uma rede mais forte na Ásia para abordar as questões das alterações climáticas no mundo, especialmente em Timor-Leste. Vemos na apresentação deles no programa que é muito importante como podemos fazer isso em Timor-Leste, pois sabemos que os impactos das alterações climáticas provêm das grandes indústrias. Portanto, as inovações apresentadas hoje são vistas como uma parte positiva para nós contribuirmos para o nosso desenvolvimento em Timor-Leste”.

FONGTIL TOGETHER WITH HIS NGO MEMBER CONDUCTED A MEETING WITH IMPORTANT DELEGATIONS OF CANSEA AND FFTI TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE FOSSIL FUEL TREATY AND JUST TRANSITION ENERGY

Today, Wednesday 21st January 2026, The Timor-Leste NGO Forum Secretariat (FONGTIL) together with his NGO members conducted a meeting with the important delegations of Climate Action Network Southeast Asia (CANSEA) and Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative (FFTI) to discuss about the Fossil Fuel Treaty and Just Energy Transition in FONGTIL meeting room in Caicoli Díli.

The purpose of this country visit is to learn about the context of Timor Leste’s national energy transition, just transition pathways, and economic transformation opportunities, by meeting with local civil society organizations working in this space. And they would like to discuss the Treaty’s relevance to Timor Leste’s climate and energy strategies, and highlight its link to the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on Climate Change, and the forthcoming first International Conference on Phasing Out Fossil Fuels in Colombia in April 2026.

In the meeting, the President of  Fiscal Council of FONGTIL Mr. Armando da Silva, said: “Today’s meeting is the principle that they come to share their programs which is connected about the climate change and the fossil fuels with us, and they also ask our opinion on how to look at how our advocacy can approach to the government of Timor-Leste and how our advocacy at regional and international levels, and this is what we are doing together today to share programs, experiences and knowledge with each other and believe that in the future we will build a stronger network in ASIA to see climate change issues in the world especially in Timor-Leste. We see from their presentation in their program show that it is very important how we can do it in Timor-Leste, as we know that climate change impacts come from large industries. So the innovations presented today are seen as a positive part for us to contribute to our development in Timor-Leste”.
